These two are just adorable together!! Love their cute Alex's Lemonade Stand shirts.
We know the manager of the new Toys R Us that opened close to us, and he asked us if we would like to get involved with Alex's Lemonade Stand and be the ambassador family for their grand opening event. We have known about Alex's Lemonade Stand since we lived in Tucson- they do a great job fundraising for pediatric cancer research but we have never gotten involved with them ourselves. Natalie has been begging to do a lemonade stand for a LONG, LONG time so I thought it would be perfect. How much better to do a lemonade stand to raise money for the cause closest to our hearts--actually that is what she wanted to do with the money from her lemonade stand anyway so it was literally perfect.

Natalie was the hardest little worker bee!!! She amazed me. She just kept working and working.
The first rain we had gotten in months!! We were SO excited!
When we arrived for the second day of selling lemonade, there were lots of cool things set up. My kids were CRAZY excited about these penguins!!!

Stephen bought this stuff (one of the several things to entertain him) and had a blast with it.
This is my NOT shy Natalie; working all the people. When they would say no thank you to lemonade she would say, "we're also fundraising for kids with cancer," and most would open their wallets. Every once in a while she would say, "I'm a cancer survivor and I've been cancer free for 2 1/2 years!!" More wallets would open... She was great. She made sure to ask everyone and wasn't shy- she really worked so hard. I know it made a difference that it was something she cares so much about. Having lost a friend to cancer has made it so personal to her and she wants to do everything she can to help other kids.
She is also learning to skill of being gracious when the answer is no and the skill of the right time to not press anymore--but pressing just a little really got her a lot more money. Those are kind of hard and subtle skills for a six year old--and she was really getting good at it.
Stephen was SO excited to see Darth Vader. The kids have watched the Star Wars movies with David over the summer and are very into it now.
They signed this light saver and gave it to Natalie. Natalie also ate lunch with Barbie (she was so cute) and later Barbie sent in a cute pair of autographed flip flops. My camera had died but I wished I had gotten a picture of the totally ecstatic look on her face- it was priceless. Captain America was the other WAY cool character out there. Again no picture of him since my camera died, but he brought Stephen a shield and signed it. That made Stephen's day!! And he was SO sweet and kept complementing Natalie for what a cool thing she was doing. He was amazing!! Stephen was VERY into him!
Natalie had her face painted with this dolphin. The really cool part is that I recognized the lady (her husband did balloons the night before and made friends with Natalie). Turns out she was the facepainter that did Natalie's send off party with Make A Wish. They thought that was so cool when we all realized it- such a small world. That was pretty special to connect with people who had done something so kind for us!!
The snake Natalie had made for him while he was sleeping. He loved it.
