Fall Fishing

On Monday we decided to take advantage of Natalie and David having the first play day off together since school started. Grandma was home sick in bed after sharing some Stephen germs, so us leaving gave her a nice chance to get some rest too. We decided to try our luck at fishing again. We chose a NEW place and a NEW type of bait hoping to increase our odds and FINALLY catch something. We came home empty handed again. Natalie was disappointed that there was no fish for dinner, but we had an incredible afternoon.

The drive out there was great too, we saw some of the most beautiful leaves we have seen since the fall before we got married. I do miss the fall leaves, especially in the mountains in Utah where I grew up.

This sure was a pretty place to fish!

Stephen thought the worms were cool, he has a thing for bugs...

Natalie wanted to keep at arms length from them,

and thought they were a little gross...

She did eventually warm up to them when Stephen made some his pets. Poor bugs, when they become his pets it is kind of like the fish of the little girl on finding Nemo...their life span gets much shorter. He loves them and plays with them, but it is just a little too much for them.

Very often after Natalie gets a flower, usually given to her by the courtesy of her brother, you can hear her say, "he loves me, he loves me not." She is copying Ariel.

It really was a beautiful place, the lake on one side and then ten feet over this little alcove.

Isn't this tree cool?

These geese were really cool. I had geese growing up and they were the waker uppers (not the roosters like you might think) and they were also the guard dogs. It was really cool to show my kid geese, it isn't too often that you come by them. I did end up on the picnic table at one point squealing when one charged me and my memories of geese from growing up took over:) My kids were looking at me like I was a bit crazy, but Natalie was backed up pretty far too:)
